What MelodyTrace does

MelodyTrace turns recorded audio and video into editable MIDI, and renders MIDI back to audio with SoundFont voices. Upload a recording, review the transcription on an interactive piano roll, fix any notes, and export MIDI or sheet music — all in the browser, with no account required for the core conversion.

How the transcription works

Audio-to-MIDI conversion runs on Basic Pitch, Spotify's open-source, instrument-agnostic pitch-detection model. We don't fine-tune or alter the model's core predictions — MelodyTrace's own engineering is in the surrounding workflow: audio normalization, the interactive piano-roll editor, re-transcription with adjustable sensitivity, and MIDI-to-audio rendering via SoundFont.
